Wings Across America’s Projects

Since 1998, Wings Across America has been dedicated to creating projects that expand the opportunities to educate America with the inspirational history of the WASP. These projects have continued to expand and evolve.  Beginning with WASP on the WEB, followed by the Flygirls Traveling WASP Exhibit and the WASP Digital Interviews,

My first book, “WASP In Their Own Words,” told the story of the WASP using quotes from  147 WASP and apx. two dozen other WWII voices of instructors, commanders, Congressional Represetatives, and generals.  It was printed in 2010 and given as a gift to all the WASP at the Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony.   It was then published as a hardback and eventually, sold out.  A second printing—this time as a paperback, was done in 2025 with an additional electronic download available on Amazon.

One unexpedted project turned out to be a wonderful educational project for children.  Thanks to The Flight of the Phoenix Museum Owner and WASP Champion,  Steve Dean, my children’s book, “Bishop Flies With The WASP of WWII” is now used as part of a core reading enrichment program for fourth-grade students in the Gilmer, Texas, school system.

Other projects, some also unepected, have included the recordings of Marching Songs of the WASP, WASP Legacy Afghan, WASP Mosaic (featuring the face of every WASP), and the limited edition Trading Cards of the WASP, sold at Oshkosh in 2001.

In order to continue to work on projects that shine the light on the WASP in as many ways and as many formats as possible, in 2024, I created TORCHLIGHT MEDIA, with a mission to illuminate the path and shine the light fueled by the inspirational WASP.  As part of that effort, Flygirls.org was created to share more personal histories of individual WASP.
